BLACK, WHITE & GREY

‘The removal of colour from work gives artists the opportunity to focus on texture, form and contrast or to explore the symbolism which surrounds the monochromatic. From light and shadow, negativity and positivity, darkness and purity, black and white together can talk of a world of contrasts and extremes, whereas the quieter grey space between black and white often symbolises ambiguity and uncertainty, neutrality and compromise.’
